The Types of Convertible Roofs available

Christopher Myers was always an early bird. At age 4, he started walking around barefoot. He loved to play his guitar in the backyard. He had the hands of an engineer and was the last kid in his grade in math.

As his older sister sent him over to his physics teacher at Amador High, in Pleasanton, California, he started experimenting with creating some basic models. What got the idea for this was the roof tent he came home from a year earlier. .

Another happy convergence of amazing equipment, culture, a sense of bliss, a backup plan, and joy of this shared passion. While I realize the capacity of the products I deliver can also be $50 or $100 or $250, this project doesn’t have enough room for those prices. I am hoping that if anyone ever needs a roof tent for a wedding, that this one will come in handy — so that you’re picking your bride and groom at the airport by the time you’re finished writing this.

Update from the guy

The first step was building the “shelter” (also known as a composite tent), initially using dry cement. From here, I transitioned to forming the exterior dome into the curved cage as you see below.

Creating the structure you see. Chris Myers’s inspiration for this project came from the age-old German word “roop” (roof). These can be any shape and can be just rigid or flexible (as simple as that might seem). A ceiling counter also gives you more shape.

The best parts of this project:

the flexibility that can accommodate a 17’K x 15’K x 17’H squared pitch and the counterweight that allows you to stabilize the frame, its counterweight and create this circular effect of the interior.

In some designs, you’ll have to use the roof as a base of your counterweight. You can’t make this big (or those thin) if the roof is loose over the area you don’t want the counterweight to drag on.

Good weather anywhere you are! This design for a Cat O shield tent is made for large outdoor events. As a shower is included, a lot of buyers benefit from this product.

The bunks are typically in single layers with one side of the wall open. While the entry will be the outer point of the concrete retaining wall you added to the side of your structure, the inner part will be closed off to restrict airflow, to prevent fungus that tends to form on roofs. The cap will also double as a transverse shelter.

The exact dimensions of the structure are not the best (I won’t calculate exactly), but I used 12’6” X 7’8” X 7’3”. (I’m guessing you use your measurements, but you are welcome to send me a line drive off YouTube for reference) The maximum number of bunks is 44. I needed five bunks to make up for falling ceilings. If your roof can accommodate this type of dimension, please make a note!

Before you send me a big check for over 100 bucks, let me admit that I don’t understand all the physics or geometry behind the cap, whether it’s the structure, the how the exterior receives and reflects the sun rays, wind flows, and so on.
